Questioning light according to Arjan Hebly
What is light? What colors does light exists of? What is light in space? What is an object in light? Which space is of the object and which of light? What do light, space and object in movement? What does light do with other light? What do light, space and object with everyone’s own light, with interaction? Yes I have something with light.
From 2006 onwards Arjan Hebly works in Delft, the city of the brilliant light of Vermeer, on the development of Lighku Lightening. Color and lightening are freely ordered in three dimensions. Just like scale, quality of materials, format and the relation between open and closed, also light and darkness plays a major role in Hebly’s work. You can see his preoccupation in his designs, from architecture, furniture, to Lighku lighting
(see also: www.heblytheunissen.nl).
Why designing Lighku’s?
Well they just try to vibrate the same essential waves as a Haiku does in language. Rhythm, poetry and a truth revealing contradiction. My Lighku’s try to capture the essence of light in a human interactive way.
Lighku is the Haiku of light, both restricted and endless
